The famous "taco" cake!

Sunday nights, we let the kids pick a dinner.  We rotate through the weeks, so everyone gets the chance.  Well, tonight, Skylar wanted Swedish food, complete with princess cake (a special cake in Sweden that kids have when they wake up on their birthday).  So, JT set out to make this extremely  difficult cake from scratch.  I told him, no one actually makes it, they always buy it from the bakery.  Anyway, I was sent to the store to get the ingredients.  When I got to the corn flour on the list, I thought it was a little weird, but I am not allowed to stray from the list.  Six hours later...
Looks pretty close to the real thing!

James:"Ahh, could be better."
Mom: How do I tell JT, there is something really wrong with this cake?
Skylar: "What do you think, mom?"
JT:  "Give her time, she has to compare it to her memories."
Me:  There is something a little off with the pastry cream part.{This is really gross}. It kind of has a taco-y flavor.
JT: (slaps head) CORN STARCH! Not, corn flour.

The translators translated the recipe wrong, so we ended up enjoying taco cake.  It was quite the experience.

Girls trip to Vegas!

Mom and I do a trip together every year for our birthday's/Christmas.  This year we were off to Vegas!  My mom was a little skeptical, but I showed her all the fun the could be had in Vegas besides gambling.  Lots of going out to eat and some beautiful shows!

 I did win a little!!

Off to make sausages!

We had so much fun last year, we just had to do it again! Plus, we were all out of delicious sausages.  So JT and I headed out to Michigan for our (now) annual sausage making weekend. It's always good to see your sister!!

We ran out of casing and the boys thought there was no way to get more in town.  Lovisa and Bronwen off to save the day:) We had to flirt a little with the meat counter guy, but we got our casings!
Of course, sausage making would not be complete without cocktail making (Visa's new hobby)!
Enjoy!!

Johannes Brahms...

For History class, the kids put on a "wax museum."  When you touched the kids, they started speaking and giving a little history on their person.  It was fun to see!
