Sunday nights, we let the kids pick a dinner. We rotate through the weeks, so everyone gets the chance. Well, tonight, Skylar wanted Swedish food, complete with princess cake (a special cake in Sweden that kids have when they wake up on their birthday). So, JT set out to make this extremely difficult cake from scratch. I told him, no one actually makes it, they always buy it from the bakery. Anyway, I was sent to the store to get the ingredients. When I got to the corn flour on the list, I thought it was a little weird, but I am not allowed to stray from the list. Six hours later...
Looks pretty close to the real thing!
James:"Ahh, could be better."
Mom: How do I tell JT, there is something really wrong with this cake?
Skylar: "What do you think, mom?"
JT: "Give her time, she has to compare it to her memories."
Me: There is something a little off with the pastry cream part.{This is really gross}. It kind of has a taco-y flavor.
JT: (slaps head) CORN STARCH! Not, corn flour.
The translators translated the recipe wrong, so we ended up enjoying taco cake. It was quite the experience.
